Mitsubishi states that automobile imports will be its third

2019-09-06 13:40

Mitsubishi made an official announcement stating that it will continue to strategically develop its import automobile operations for the China market, the China Business Times reported today. The manufacturer also released information on specific investment plans for certain imported models.

SAIC Group has just announced that, although there will be no new MG models this year, it will be releasing two models, one SUV and one hatchback, for the brand in 2014, auto.qq.com reported today. According to representatives from the manufacturer, the new SUV will be different from the currently available W5, which is sold in China under MG's sister brand Roewe.

Mitsubishi China will begin recalling 2012 model year Pajero Sport SUVs in China, Xinhua reported today, citing an announcement made by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. The manufacturer will conduct three individual recalls, which will target over 5,000 Pajero Sports.

Chinese automobile manufacturers have been unable to break into the top tier of multinational automobile manufacturers for several decades now. In order to reverse this trend, the Chinese government has planning to release a series of new standards for Chinese new energy vehicles, the Securities Daily reported today.

In order to satisfy Chinese consumer demand, Mitsubishi's import division stated in its announcement that it will display imported versions of the redesigned Outlander and Pajero at the Chengdu Motor Show 2014, to be held at the end of the month. The announcement also revealed that both Mitsubishi Motors and its import division have already established a timetable for import automobiles in 2015. Mitsubishi stated that import automobiles will provide a third pillar to its operations in the country after domestically made automobiles and domestically manufactured engines, and will play a crucial role in helping its Chinese sales recover.

金莎娱乐场app下载 ,The upcoming MG SUV, which is internally codenamed AS21, will reportedly be based off the MG CS urban SUV concept which was displayed at April's Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition. The CS is designed to be powered by a 2.0 L turbocharged engine producing up to 150 kW and 280 Nm of torque. It can drive the SUV from a standing start to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and up to a maximum speed of 220 km/h. Meanwhile, the hatchback, codenamed AP13, will be built on the same platform as the MG5. The two models will help bring more diversity to the MG product line up, which currently is made up of the MG3, MG5 and MG6 sedans.

The first recall is targeted at 2,338 imported Pajero Sports manufactured between late August and mid-June 2012. This batch of vehicles suffers from a design flaw in which the backrest adjustment switch on the driver's seat may clash against various auto parts. This flaw becomes especially apparent when resetting the position of the backrest. This problem in turn may lead to the seat's electric motor being locked in place, which may damage certain auto parts.

The announcement comes not long after Minister of Science and Technology and Industry Expert Wan Gang's notable presentation at this year's International Forum on Chinese Automotive Industry Development, in which he discussed the development of new energy vehicles. During the presentation, Mr. Wan stated that China had made significant process through over a decade of research on the three core automotive parts for new energy vehicles: batteries, engines and electronic control units. He added that Chinese electric vehicles will soon be able to achieve true zero emissions and compete with international competitors. As such, subsidy policies for new energy vehicles are scheduled to be phased out in 2020.

The new Outlander (pictured above) offers a much more fashionable exterior design than its predecessor, possessing more striking lines and a larger front grille. The SUV also sports aluminum alloy wheels, a black safety bar running across its sides and redesigned tail lamps powered by bright LED lights. The new Outlander keeps the 2.0 L and 2.4 L power options of its predecessor, with the former offering a maximum output of 110 kW and 190 Nm of torque, while the latter outputs up to 124 kW of power and 220 Nm of torque. The engines are mated to a continuously variable transmission and come in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.

SUVs remain one of the fastest growing segments in the Chinese automobile market, with several own brand manufacturers releasing new models. China Association of Automobile Manufacturers statistics show that over 1.08 million SUVs were sold in the country over the first five months of 2013, up 43.4 percent from the previous year. At the moment, SAIC Motor is only offering a single traditional SUV model–the Roewe W5, which is based off of the Korean SsangYong Kyron. The new MG SUV, which is aimed squarely at the compact urban SUV model, will help raise SAIC's competitiveness in the segment.

The next recall targets 51 Pajero Sports manufactured in October 2011 that are suspected to have poorly positioned soldering points connecting the front drive axle to its cover sleeve. The solder may crack when the vehicle accelerates or under pressure, which can potentially endanger the safety of the vehicle's occupants.

Mr. Wan emphasized that advancements in science and technology are promoting the healthy development of the new energy vehicle industry. However, the industry must still work to optimize market conditions, create a fair platform and strengthen international partnerships. Comprehensive standards, effective legislation, strict oversight and elimination of regional monopolies are crucial to the industry's future development.

The new Pajero (pictured below) has also undergone some very dramatic changes. The front safety bar and grille have both been redesigned to give the SUV a more impressive appearance. LED-powered tail lamps and a brand new rear spare tire cover are also available as options. Inside, the Pajero uses metallic finishing and sound proof materials, with piano black equipment adorned with wood grain available as an option. The new Pajero has the same power options as its predecessor: a 3.0 L V6 engine producing 130 kW of power and 259 Nm of torque linked to a five-speed automatic transmission. The Pajero only comes in an all-wheel drive version./

In the final recall, 2,678 imported Pajero Sports carrying production dates from late August 2011 to early June 2012 are to be recalled due to an auto part manufacturing flaw. These vehicles also suffer from poor soldering, this time connecting the lower front swingarm's cover and its base. These solder points may crack when the vehicle experiences vibrations during driving, in which case the suspension may become unstable and the vehicle not drivable.

The topic of new standards is especially important to industry manufacturers and experts alike. Wu Zhixin, head of the National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization's Technology Sub-Committee, revealed that the 75 standards for Chinese new energy automobiles have already been decided upon. These standards were first devised by the National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology back in 2010. In addition, 77 new standards are in the process of being revised, and will be announced in the near future.

Mitsubishi China, via its certified dealerships, will contact owners of affected vehicles to schedule appointment times for free inspection and repair./

According to the government, these standards will either be up to or far exceed current international standards, and help fill the void in current national standards. Hopefully by using these standards, Chinese manufacturers can help break into the international market and compete with multinational rivals. BYD CEO Wang Chuanfu shares this notion, stating that "the sooner these standards are implemented the better." He added that the comprehensive and intensive standards will allow Chinese new energy automobile manufacturers to rise to the forefront of the international market."/
